President Bola Tinubu has signed four major tax reform bills into law, declaring the move as the beginning of a bold new era in Nigeria’s economic governance.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of key National Assembly figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.

Tinubu said the new laws are designed not just to streamline Nigeria’s tax system but to introduce the first major pro-people tax cuts in a generation. He said the reforms are aimed at providing targeted relief to low-income earners, small businesses, and working families.

The newly signed laws are:

  1. Nigeria Tax Bill (Fair Taxation)
  2. Nigeria Tax Administration Bill
  3. Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill
  4. Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill

According to the president, the reforms will unify the country’s fragmented tax structure, eliminate duplications, reduce bureaucratic red tape, boost investor confidence, and promote greater transparency and coordination across all levels of government.
