The Taraba State Government has announced in his new year message, plans to procure 10,000 metric tons of grains to fight hunger in the state.
He explained that 3,500 metric tons had already been acquired, with the remaining 6,500 metric tons coming by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
Dr. Agbu Kefas also stressed that peace remains a cornerstone of progress as security has been strengthened across all 168 wards of the state, through the expansion of the Taraba Marshall. He demanded for more collaboration on this to ensure a peaceful and safe Taraba.
On education, the governor celebrated the launch of free and compulsory education for primary and secondary schools. Plans for 2025 include improving school infrastructure, recruiting more teachers, and building modern schools in every local governments.
Kefas also outlined strides in agriculture, noting progress in modernizing agricultural facilities, providing inputs, and training youths in advanced farming methods. He said these efforts were already yielding results in the state’s agricultural revolution.
For higher education, the governor announced reforms to improve service delivery and infrastructure. He warned against sabotage, saying his administration would not tolerate actions that hinder progress.
Kefas assured citizens of transparency and accountability in governance, promising that every naira spent would be accounted for. He called for unity among Tarabans, emphasizing the strength of their diversity and urging everyone to work together for the state’s development.
