State Funds for Side Chicks?”: Ebonyi Commissioner Engulfed in Corruption and Infidelity Scandal

The corridors of power in Ebonyi State are rattling under the weight of scandal, as Hon. Oguzor Offia Nwali, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, faces damning allegations of siphoning public funds to finance an extravagant lifestyle riddled with infidelity and moral recklessness.
In a fiery Facebook post that has since mysteriously been deleted, Mrs. Mary Jane Offia popularly know as Ada Aliezza, the commissioner’s wife, blew the lid off what many are calling an abuse of public office.

She accused her husband of using state resources to spoil his sidechicks, particularly a woman identified as Favour Okike Onyibe, and shockingly, her sister.
“He’s lavishing taxpayers’ money on women while Ebonyi youths starve,” Ada wrote before the post was pulled down. “Favour and her sister are competing over who gets to destroy my home, funded by the people’s money!”

The now-deleted exposé sparked an avalanche of reactions online and offline, drawing the public’s attention to a deeper rot: the alleged misuse of ₦3 billion earmarked for youth empowerment and small business support since 2024, but now feared to have been diverted to finance the commissioner’s immoral escapades.
Sources close to the ministry allege that since the release of the funds, no concrete empowerment project has been traced, even as the commissioner flaunts newfound wealth — luxury cars, designer wear, and expensive vacations with women not his wife.
“The real crime isn’t just the cheating, it’s the looting,” said Ugochukwu Nnadi (Not Real Name), a political analyst based in Ebonyi. “A man entrusted with public funds has allegedly turned government empowerment money into a private romance budget.”
The government of Ebonyi State has remained deafeningly silent on the matter, refusing to address both the allegations of infidelity and the far graver charges of embezzlement.
Civil society organizations, however, are not letting go. Many are demanding an independent probe into the commissioner’s financial dealings, calling for his immediate suspension pending investigation.
“This is no longer about private family matters,” said Ifeoma Ogbodo(pseudo), spokesperson for the Ebonyi Women for Accountability. “This is a public betrayal. While young people struggle to feed and grow their businesses, our so-called leaders are throwing empowerment money at sidechicks in hotel rooms.”
The image of a government official treating state coffers like his personal wallet has ignited fury among Ebonyi residents. As the story continues to unfold, questions abound: Who else knew? How far does the rot go? And how many other women are being funded with public money under the guise of ‘empowerment’?
With the Facebook post now deleted and no official rebuttal from the commissioner or his office, many fear an attempted cover-up. But the damage may already be done. As public anger boils and pressure mounts, Hon. Nwali may soon face not just a media trial, but a formal investigation — and perhaps even the collapse of his political career.
For now, the people of Ebonyi await justice. Not just for a woman scorned, but for an entire state robbed.
