Simon Guobadia Says He Regrets Marrying Porsha Williams, Claims He Was “Targeted for Financial Reasons”

Nigerian-born businessman Simon Guobadia has opened up about his short-lived marriage to reality TV star Porsha Williams, admitting in an exclusive interview with Page Six that he “absolutely” regrets ever tying the knot with her.
Guobadia, 61, believes he was deliberately targeted by the Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 44, alleging financial motives behind their whirlwind relationship. “I think I was targeted from day one for financial reasons,” he said. “This felt like a coup… I was totally blindsided.”
The couple married in November 2022 and Porsha filed for divorce just 14 months later, in February 2024. Guobadia claims he repeatedly asked her why she wanted to end the marriage, but she gave no explanation and cut off communication, even from her family.
“When I couldn’t reach anyone close to her, I sent her a message that said, ‘This was a $5 million rehab project that I took on,’” he revealed.
Porsha recently told People that she hired an immigration attorney earlier this year after uncovering “complex” legal issues involving Guobadia’s immigration status. According to her, things came to a head after a confrontation on Valentine’s Day, prompting her to file for divorce shortly afterward.
But Guobadia insists he was kept in the dark. “She never shared any of her concerns with me. If you’re married, you talk through your problems. We never had those discussions,” he said.
Simon, who was deported to Nigeria earlier this month due to immigration violations—including allegations of bank and credit card fraud—says the relationship moved too fast from the start.
“When I divorced my previous wife [RHOA cast member Falynn Guobadia], Porsha slid into my DMs, praying for me. I was vulnerable, and I entertained it. Thirty days later we were engaged. Who does that? I was out of my goddamn mind. Of course, I’m paying dearly for it now.”
Following four months in a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, Guobadia was deported, and just days after landing back in Nigeria, a judge finalized the divorce from Williams—bringing their controversial love story to an official end.
