“She Initiated the Divorce” – Daniel Ademinokan Refutes Stella Damasus’ Claim She Learned Of Divorce On YouTube

Veteran Nollywood actress Stella Damasus and her ex-husband, filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan, have returned to the spotlight following the resurfacing of a 2023 interview in which Damasus claimed she discovered their marriage had ended via a YouTube video — without any prior notice from her then-husband.

Speaking on The Teju Babyface Show, Damasus recalled the moment she realized her marriage was over:
“A lot of things were said about me on YouTube because that is how I found out my marriage had ended. I didn’t know that my marriage had ended,” she said, adding that she was bombarded with calls from concerned friends who urged her to check the platform.

The interview has since reignited public interest in the former couple’s private split and triggered a response from Ademinokan, who broke his silence in a series of Instagram story posts.

Refuting Damasus’ claims, Ademinokan said he had remained quiet out of respect but could no longer stay silent in the face of what he described as “lies.” He shared a screenshot of an email allegedly sent by Damasus on July 20, 2021, in which she requested an address to send divorce papers.

He went on to explain that his decision to end the marriage was not sudden, but was influenced by concerns for his mental well-being and, most critically, the safety of his son.

In a troubling revelation, Ademinokan alleged that his son experienced physical abuse during the marriage and once had to wear makeup to school to conceal visible injuries.
