President Tinubu Vows to Make Schools Safe Havens for Learning, Not Targets for Abductions

President Tinubu has reiterated the efforts of the Federal government to ensure that schools remain safer and secure for teaching and learning activities, devoid of kidnapping.

According to a press statement by the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale says that President Tinubu reiterated the promise when he received the news of the release of the Kuriga school children in Kaduna State.

The president used the opportunity to welcome the release of pupils from a Tsangaya school in Sokoto State.

He commended all security agencies involved in the rescue operations for their valiant effort. He stated that his administration continues to deploy detailed strategies to ensure that schools in the country remain safe. “safe sanctuaries of learning, not lairs for wanton abductions.”

Recall that Bandits had on March 7 ab­ducted 287 pupils and teachers at Local Government Education Au­thority Teachers Primary School, Kuriga, in Chikun Local Govern­ment Area of Kaduna State.

The Defence Headquarters announced on Sunday that the kidnapped Kuriga schoolchildren had been rescued in Zamfara State and would be handed over to the Kaduna State government..
