Police arrest 5 suspected kidnappers

The Police says it has arrested five suspects after a viral video at the weekend showed four decomposing corpses discovered in a forest in Avu area of Owerri, Imo State.
The video was released by the hunters association in State.
A statement by Imo Police spokesperson Henry Okoye said that a tactical team led by Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma collaborated with some local hunters invaded the hideout of the hoodlums in a between Obinze, Federal University of Technology Owerri and Avu communities of the state and arrested the suspects.
The suspects according to the Commissioner of Police who are undergoing investigation have provided useful information that will lead to the arrest of other syndicates at large.
The CP added: “The Command intends to carry out further DNA confirmatory test to ascertain the identity of the deceased.
“Intense operation is still ongoing in the forest and other identified black spots with the aim of stamping out all forms of crime and criminality in the State”.
Other communities in Ndegwu,Orogwe and Irete all in Owerri West council area have raised alarm over alleged reoccurring abduction in the areas.
