NYSC Director Harps On Safety, Entrepreneurship

The Director, Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme (NYSC) Mr Sunday Aroni, has addressed the 2024 Batch B Stream II corps members.

Mr. Aroni equally harped on the primary objective of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which he said aims to address unemployment and create opportunities for corps members to start their own businesses.

He urged each of them to acquire at least one skill so that they can have something to fall back on after service. He reminded them of the paucity of white collar jobs and asked them to take their destiny in their hands by subscribing to SAED devotedly.

Mr. Aroni reiterated the Director-General’s message regarding the need to avoid night travels, especially in certain regions of the country. He stressed the importance of safety and urged corps members and camp officials to exercise caution and prioritize their well-being.

He also advised corps members to be an agent of change at their various places of primary assignment where they would be posted.He instructed that it is mandatory to always obey the rules and regulations guiding the Scheme and dress correctly in their NYSC uniform with their identity card saying “you’ll be addressed the way you are dressed”.

Mr. Aroni expressed his gratitude to all involved in the orientation programme, appreciating the contributions of the Camp officials, Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS), Quarter Guard, Man O’ War, Dance and Drama troupe, Band and Cheerleaders.He said he was impressed with the good conduct displayed by the corps members and implored them to continue in the same spirit for the rest of the orientation exercise and service year.

Earlier in her welcome address, the State Coordinator, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa commended the diligence and patriotism exhibited by the corps members since the commencement of the Orientation exercise. She reported that they have been of good conduct and responding appropriately to instructions.She also acknowledged their well disposition to Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme
