Nwifuru Promises to Fight Candidate Imposition in Ebonyi LG Poll

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has assured the public that the imposition of candidates ahead of the 2024 Local Government Election will be vigorously opposed.
In a press statement released on Sunday and signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, Governor Nwifuru reiterated his stance against candidate imposition.
He made these remarks during a Church service at the Government House Chapel, emphasising the importance of providing a level playing field for all aspirants.
Governor Nwifuru affirmed his commitment to ensuring that stakeholders and grassroots communities have a say in selecting credible candidates to represent them.
He commended the Council Chairmen for their handling of security issues and their engagement with grassroots communities.
He urged those seeking re-election to earn the trust and support of stakeholders and the electorate.
“Our Party is large, and we will do everything possible to resist candidate imposition,” declared the Governor.
He stressed that, as Governor, he would refrain from dictating the choice of the next Local Government Chairman, leaving the decision to the party and the electorate.
Governor Nwifuru also cautioned government officials against actions that could tarnish the image of the Government.
He urged stakeholders to address any shortcomings and learn from their experiences.
He appealed to the people of Ebonyi State to show patience and understanding, acknowledging that the current administration is still in its early stages of governance.
In a remark, as preparations for the Local Government Election intensify, with political parties and aspirants gearing up for the electoral process, he is committed to ensuring fairness and transparency in candidate selectireflectingcts the growing importance of democratic principles within the state.
