NSITF urges Benue investment property company to settle N3.2M debt

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has called on the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) to clear an outstanding N3.2 million debt inherited by the current management.
The move, according to NSITF, will help facilitate the provision of enhanced social insurance services for the company’s workforce.
The request was made by NSITF representative Mrs. Msugh Echeno, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, in Makurdi.
She commended the company for its recent expansion efforts and urged BIPC to onboard over 300 staff from its newly established subsidiaries into the social insurance scheme.
Mrs. Echeno emphasized that timely debt repayment would enable NSITF to sustain and improve its support for BIPC employees. “By settling this obligation, BIPC will ensure continued protection for its workforce and demonstrate a commitment to employee welfare,” she stated.
In his response, Dr. Asemakaha expressed appreciation for NSITF’s services and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to prioritizing staff welfare. He acknowledged the importance of the insurance scheme in safeguarding employees’ interests and ensuring workplace security.
As a step toward compliance, Dr. Asemakaha instructed the Head of Administration and Human Resources Management, Joshua Nyipira, to liaise with NSITF for the seamless integration of new employees into the scheme. This move aligns with the company’s broader efforts to improve the working conditions of its expanding workforce.
