Nigerian singer, actor, and politician Banky Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has earned a Master’s degree in Policy Management from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

He made the announcement on Instagram, expressing gratitude and reflecting on the personal and professional journey that led to the achievement.

“Faith gives you the courage, resilience and power to redefine endings,” he wrote. “The past few years have been a stretching season for my family and I… Sometimes it is necessary to step off the dance floor and onto the balcony… to reflect on how far you have come, who you are, and who you would like to become.”

Banky W noted that the degree—also known in some institutions as a Master of Public Administration (MPA)—was earned during an intense period in his life. During the program, he and his wife welcomed their second child, Hezekiah Oluwadarasimi Wellington.

“Parenting two children in the U.S., while earning a full-time Master’s and serving as a Fellow on Capitol Hill all at the same time was completely exhausting,” he said. “But by the grace of God, the strength of faith and the support of family, friends and mentors, we did it!”

He gave a special shout-out to his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, joking that she deserves an honorary degree of her own for standing by him through the demanding period. “I told her I enjoyed it so much that I’m thinking about earning a PhD next. She said she hopes my next wife will support me on that,” he teased.

The singer concluded his announcement with a message of encouragement: “It’s never too late to dream a new dream, or redefine the ending of an existing one.”
