Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, has called on the 2023 Batch “C” Stream II corps members, who exited camp today, at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, during the closing ceremony of the 3-week Orientation course to carry their views and understanding of Lagos, acquired through the orientation course into the State, for its development.
This message was delivered by the Director, General Services, Lagos State Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Ibukun Dosunmu, who represented the Governor at the event.
In his address, the governor of Lagos State said, “This orientation camp has been a microscopic representation of Lagos State- a melting pot of cultures, languages, and traditions, and you have experienced first hand the strength that comes from diversity.
“I am confident that you all will carry this understanding with you as you contribute to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.”
The Governor has also called on the corps members to take the opportunities that come with the service year, stating that their journey outside the orientation camp might be rough but will be illuminated with opportunities, which they should take.
He encouraged the people of Lagos State to welcome the corps members and accord them the necessary support and encouragement they need to enjoy a memorable service year.
On her part, the State Coordinator, NYSC Lagos, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, has called on the corps members members to serve the country with all sense of responsibility and patriotism.
Referring to the two corps members in their sixties who enthusiastically enrolled in the program, she urged fellow members to mirror their dedication and actively participate in national development. Emphasizing the importance of contributing to the nation’s progress, she reminded everyone that there’s no other place like home.
The State Coordinator acknowledged two corps members: Mr. Oriahi Morgan (LA/23C/5390) and Mr. Oniya Adekunle (LA/23C/7224). During the Orientation Course program, certain officials and corps members received commendation today for their exceptional dedication and diligence. The individuals recognized include Layefa Akhidenor (Best Platoon Inspector), Roseline Ochiemen (Best NYSC Staff), Obisesan Ismat (Corps Medical Director, Camp Clinic – Best corps member), Abdulganiyu Abdulfawas (Best Platoon leader), Ekumeku Cynthia (Overall Parade Commander), Agunbiade A (Best Non-NYSC official), and Rasheed Opeyemi.
