Lagos NYSC Official Call On Corps Members To Make Positive Impact In Service Year

The Head, Planning, Research and Statistics Branch of NYSC Lagos, Mrs Bridget Joe-Tagbo, has urged corps members at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja today.

She gave the charge while delivering the Planning, Research and Statistics lecture to make positive impact during the service year, stating that whatever they do, they should contribute to the socio-economic development of their host communities and by extension, the country.

Mrs. Bridget added that each responsible corps members embrace is a valuable contribution to the progress of the nation. The officer who equally sensitized the corps members on Evaluation, explained the role of the PRS, stating that the department is responsible for planning the Annual Management Conference of the NYSC, formulate policies and guidelines etc.

She explained that planning defines a roadmap for the scheme, research helps it to make smart decisions, and policies are the important rules the scheme needs to follow.

According to the officer, the PRS oversees factors such as a conducive camp environment, water supply, hygienic facilities etc. Mrs. Joe-Tagbo added that other areas the PRS looks into are food menus, kits, travel plans or lectures being held. She also highlighted the central role played by PRS in collecting, collating, sorting, and managing all information encapsulated in the forms filled by corps members. Additionally, she said PRS manages the scheme’s records and liaises with relevant bodies, to ensure smooth operations.
