Lagos Corps Members Receive Language Training

Zonal Inspector of Somolu Zone and Coordinating Head of Platoon Inspectors,NYSC Lagos, Mrs. Beatrice Fayinto, addressed the 2024 Batch “A” stream II corps members on the significance of language as a tool for unity, emphasizing the limitation of solely relying on one’s mother tongue and advocated for embracing other languages.

In the Yoruba sensitization lecture, Mrs. Fayinto encouraged the corps members to familiarize themselves with the language since they are stationed in a Yoruba-speaking State. She highlighted its importance in communicating with locals, particularly market traders and other community members, to avoid any communication barriers.

Furthermore, Mrs. Fayinto imparted practical knowledge by teaching common Yoruba greetings, days of the week, months of the year, parts of the body, and useful phrases. This equipped the corps members with essential linguistic skills for effective communication within the community.
