Labour Party Caretaker Committee Slams Abure as Impostor, Dismisses Ultimatum to Peter Obi

The Senator Nenadi Usman-led Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party has fired back at Julius Abure, labelling him an impostor and dismissing the 48-hour ultimatum issued to Peter Obi as baseless and mischievous.

In a statement signed by Ken Eluma Asogwa, Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Acting National Chairman, the committee condemned the ultimatum from the Abure-led faction, describing it as a desperate move by political “jesters” who have no legitimate standing within the party.

“The attention of the Labour Party has been drawn to misleading reports suggesting that Mr. Peter Obi has been given a 48-hour ultimatum to resign from the party over his involvement in recent coalition activities, including the unveiling of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja,” the statement read.

“To be clear, the Labour Party leadership publicly declared its support for Mr. Obi’s role in the coalition on May 26, 2025. That position remains unchanged. His participation was carried out with the full knowledge and backing of the party leadership.”

The committee emphasized that those issuing the ultimatum have been suspended from the party and dismissed by the Supreme Court for repeated acts of indiscipline and anti-party conduct.

“These individuals are discredited and lack any legal or political legitimacy. It is their lingering mess that the current leadership is working hard to clean up,” the statement continued.

The party urged the public and media to ignore the distractions, reaffirming that only the office of Senator Nenadi Usman, as Acting National Chairman, represents the official voice of the Labour Party.
