Kaduna APC Suspends Women Leader for Criticizing Governor Sani
The Kaduna State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended its Women Leader, Maryam Suleiman on grounds of “gross misconduct” after she criticized Governor Uba Sani over the large debt inherited from the previous administration..
A suspension letter dated March 31st, signed by the APC chairman and secretary of Badarawa/Malali ward, Ali Maishago and Zakkah Bassahuwa respectively, says Maryam Suleiman was suspended for allegedly defaming the character of Governor Uba Sani, and unauthorised publicity of the party’s dispute.
The suspension letter added that the Women Leader allegedly sent thugs to attack the political adviser to the governor, Manzo Maigari.
Citing Article 21, 2 (v) of the APC constitution against the action of the Maryam Suleiman, the party said the suspension was indefinite pending the investigation into the allegations.
In a viral video she made in the Hausa language, the APC women leader faulted Governor Sani’s statement on the huge debt burden he inherited from the administration of governor Nasir El-Rufai’s, accusing him of maladministration.
During a town hall meeting held on Saturday, Governor Sani revealed that he inherited a debt of $587 million, equivalent to N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities from the previous El-Rufai administration. This debt burden has made it difficult for the current government to pay workers’ salaries, as deductions from the federal allocation have been required to service the debt.
Meanwhile, Bashir El-Rufai, son of the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State Nasiru El-Rufai, has criticized the administration of Governor Sani, stating that it is suffering from incompetence and mismanagement.
In a tweet, Bashir El-Rufai said “the current administration in Kaduna is building a banquet hall for 7BN naira and is lamenting about debt left by the previous administration”.
“FYI: He was the Senator from Kaduna who lobbied & approved the loans”, he said further on X.
