Iran Rejects Ceasefire Agreement, Demands Israel End ‘Illegal Aggression’
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has dismissed claims of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, stating that no formal agreement has been reached. He emphasized that Iran’s military operations will only stop if Israel ceases its “illegal aggression” against Iran.
Araghchi made it clear that Iran is open to halting hostilities if Israel ends its attacks by a set deadline of 4 a.m. Tehran time. He stated that should Israel comply, Iran would have no intention to continue its military actions beyond that point.
“There is NO agreement on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later,” Araghchi said in a post on social media.
His comments come in direct contrast to U.S. President Trump’s announcement that a “complete and total ceasefire” was imminent, with the truce expected to take effect within hours. However, Iran’s position suggests that tensions remain high, and a full cessation of hostilities is far from assured.
