IPR Enlightens Corps Members on Roles of PR Unit

The Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit, Mrs. Christy Olatoye, represented by Mrs Aladesoun Omolola, during a lecture at the ongoing 2024 Batch B stream two orientation course, has educated corps members on the roles and functions of the Information and Public Relations Unit of the NYSC Lagos State.

She explained that Public Relations is fundamentally about the maintenance of favourable image of an organisation. “Public relations is all about how you package yourself, how others perceive you, and how you relate with others”.

Mrs. Aladesoun also mentioned the significance of the IPR Unit at the NYSC National Headquarters in Abuja, under the office of the NYSC Director General.

She noted that the unit is saddled with the coordination of activities,protocol arrangements,events planning and above all maintaining the Scheme’s positive image.She further mentioned that the unit produces publications such as end of the year Service Magazine, Eko Kopa, Orientation Service Guide, amongst others.

She encouraged corps members to at all times dress properly especially to their PPAs, State Secretariat and at their various local government where they would be posted.She said they must ensure their identification card is always with them.

The Head, IPR warned the corps members against speaking with the Press on issues relating to the Scheme and charged them to make positive use of the social media.She however enlightened them on the proper way to channel their grievances if they have any.

She equally urged corps members to always adhere to NYSC rules and regulations, and maintain a professional posture, reminding them that they are ambassadors of the Scheme.
