University of Aeronautic and Space Engineering, Ezza, respectively.
The council further directed the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education to swear in the appointed Acting Vice-Chancellors tomorrow, Tuesday, 20 August 2024″
Prof Engr Ernest Ituma Egba is a professor of Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. He was awarded a Professorship in 2024. He is from Amoffia, in Ohaukwu Local Government Council, Ebonyi State.
Prof Patrick Akata Nwofe is from Izzi and a professor of solid State and Solar Energy Physics at Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.
It could be recalled that both Universities were approved by the immediate past governor of the State, His Excellency Engr Dave Nweze Umahi, who is now Minister of Works, following the ratification by the House of Assembly led by the incumbent Governor, Rt Hon Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru FNIOB GGCEHF.
Investigation shows that the erecting of Academic and administration blocs is ongoing for the smooth take of academic activities in the University.
This is despite the wide opinion against the establishment of another university in the State when state-owned Institutions like Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, and Ikwo College of Education are facing challenges. Opinionists queried the possibility of running various institutions in the State with the meager resources.
The duo was sworn in on 20th August 2024 by the Commissioner for Tertiary Institutions, Prof Omari Omaka SAN in his office, at Ochudo Centenary City, Abakaliki.
