Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his predecessor and current FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Martin Amaewhule have made a rare joint public appearance.

The three political rivals were seen together at a funeral service in Rumueprikom, Wike’s hometown in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, just two days after a fresh round of peace talks held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Their appearance comes amid renewed efforts by President Bola Tinubu to resolve the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State, which has dragged on for nearly two years.

Thursday’s meeting in Abuja, brokered by the President, urged all parties to cease hostilities and restore political stability in the state.

The funeral was attended by several political heavyweights, including Senator Allwell Onyesoh, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, Senator Olaka Nwogu, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, former lawmaker Hon. Ken Chikere, APC South-South Vice Chairman Victor Giadom, and former PDP Deputy National Chairman Dr. Sam Sam Jaja.

Meanwhile, sources say Governor Fubara is scheduled to meet privately with his supporters later today to brief them on the outcome of his discussions with President Tinubu and Wike.
