In her words, “It is rather an emotive feeling being here today in the absence of our dear son to commission the NYSC Lagos Secretariat Hall, though he may be absent, Collins truly lives in our hearts. “It is indeed rare and speaks volumes of the family of the deceased corps member, Comrade Olawole Collins Alessandro Ebiesuwa, who despite this harrowing loss, chose the path of humanity and service by bringing up this project.

This is healing in itself as there is no other path of love and purification other than the path of service for it is a cold and lonely path, not heavily plied by many travelers but capable of refinement and ejecting selfish impurities from our beings.” While giving testimonials about the deceased corps member, the Assistant Director, of the Corps Welfare and Health Services Branch, Mrs Oluwakemi Awolola said she met the deceased during the 2023 Batch “B” orientation course and saw a boy who was properly raised and came from a good family in him.

She said his manner of speech while addressing people, and the rate at which people flocked around him is an attestation that the family lost a good son.

She urged the mother to take solace in the fact that her son lived impacting lives. Also, the Platoon Inspector of the Deceased during the Course, Mrs Ann Ogundare, narrated that the Deceased developed a penchant for looking after her during the course as she was stressed. She said he was always advising her to take a rest, mind her health, and drink enough water.

A friend of the Deceased, who was also his colleague at work, said during his short period of service, they had intimate discussions and said he wanted to maximize his service year and had registered for a Yoruba online tutorial class to learn the language.

Sul Pulnaro, a Community-based media in Italy, reported that; “the boy, of Nigerian origins, had grown up in Finale Emilia with his adopted aunt and uncle Carla and Sergio. He played football for several years in the Junior Finale, had participated in town initiatives such as Finalestense and to pay for his studies, he worked during his university years at the Vanilla Caffè in Corso Matteotti.

Many respected him and loved him.” il Resto del Carlino, another community media reported Comrade Ebiesuwa as “a boy who was always available and smiling , an immense loss: when he lived here he was active and took part in many initiatives organized in the town”, is the memory of Francesco Luppi, owner together with his wife of the Vanilla Caffè in Corso Matteotti where everyone called him Ebi so, he worked at the counter or took orders at the tables.” Other media who reported the demise of the deceased are Gazzetta Di Reggio and MoreThesis.
