Egypt rejects plan to displace Palestinians

Powerful Arab nations, including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, the Palestinian Authority, and the Arab League, have jointly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank to neighboring countries.

Egypt has firmly rejected proposals to displace Palestinian people, stating that such actions would threaten regional security and undermine the Palestinian cause.

The Egyptian presidency issued a statement on Tuesday, emphasizing its commitment to protecting Palestinian rights and maintaining stability in the region.

The rejection comes amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial plan to permanently displace over 2 million Palestinians from Gaza, assert U.S. control over the territory, and transform it into an international beach resort. The proposal has sparked outrage across the Arab world.

Egypt will host an emergency Arab League summit on March 4 to address Arab efforts to counter Trump’s plan and calls for Egypt and Jordan to resettle displaced Palestinians.

Both countries have dismissed the proposal, citing national security concerns and the need to preserve Palestinian identity.

Arab leaders, including representatives from Gulf states, Egypt, and Jordan, recently held a meeting in Riyadh to discuss the issue.

Palestinians fear a repeat of the 1948 Nakba, during which hundreds of thousands were expelled or fled their homeland following the establishment of Israel.

Egypt’s stance highlighted its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and preventing actions that could destabilize the region.
