EBHA Bans Church Crusades In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State House of Assembly has taken a decisive step to prevent further disruption of peace and destruction of properties in the state. The lawmakers have banned all forms of Church Crusades In Ebonyi aimed at community cleansing and fishing out witches and wizards by self-acclaimed prophets.
The ban comes after a recent incident in Izzi Local Government Area, where a Christian crusade organized by Prophet Ubadimma led to the destruction of properties worth millions of Naira. The properties belonged to Chief John Ekpono and his wives, who were accused of using witchcraft powers to hinder the progress of community youths.
The lawmakers unanimously adopted a motion banning such activities, condemning the destruction of existing structures, and calling for the immediate arrest of perpetrators to serve as a deterrent.
According to the motion, all spiritual crusades must now receive approval from security agents and community leadership before they can be held. This move is aimed at preventing further jungle justice and ensuring peace and harmony in the state.
The Leader of the House, Chief Kingsley Ikoro, emphasized the importance of brotherliness and condemned the destruction of properties. The timely intervention of the Izzi Council Chairman, Mr. Stephen Nwankpa, was also praised for saving the situation.
This ban is seen as a welcome development in the state, and residents are hoping it will bring an end to the destructive activities of self-acclaimed prophets and their followers.
