Do Not Keep It To Yourself, Inform Us If You Are Sexually Harrased – NYSC

Mrs Oluwakemi Awolola, Assistant Director of Corps Welfare and Health Services, has urged Prospective Corps Members of the 2023 Batch “C” Stream I Orientation course to speak up if they are Sexually Harrased or verbal harassment during their service year
During a lecture on Corps Welfare and Health Services, the Assistant Director encouraged the prospective corps members to utilize the National Health Insurance Authority scheme whenever they need medical care.
The Director also spoke about the importance of taking care of their health while serving and urged them to prioritize their well-being.

Mrs Awolola who said the scheme would take such cases up, encouraged the corps members to keep it to themselves and emphasized the importance of reporting such incidents to the scheme whenever they are Sexually Harrased
She said the insurance scheme covers the corps members even to the conduct of surgeries. She urged them to take their health seriously and shy away from the habit of not making use of health facilities when sick, especially during the service year.
Mrs. Awolola explained that the Corps Welfare and Health Services Branch is comprised of two units – the Welfare Unit and the Health Unit. The Welfare Unit is responsible for overseeing the welfare of corps members, such as leave matters, travel arrangements, and other forms of support during their service year.
The Health Unit according to the Assistant Director, handles the Prospective Corps Members’ health issues. On traveling, she informed the prospective corps members that they could not travel if not authorized.
According to Mrs Awolola, any travel out of the State must be approved by the State Coordinator and the letter seeking approval must get to the State Coordinator at least 2 weeks before. To travel out of the country, the Director-General must give approval whose letter must be sent a month before travel through an appropriate communication channel.
