Deji Adeyanju Softens Stance on Wike-Fubara Reconciliation

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju appears to have softened his earlier skepticism about the recent truce between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Recall that Adeyanju had, in response to the peace accord brokered by President Bola Tinubu, warned Governor Fubara to remain cautious, suggesting that the FCT Minister could still frustrate his administration. At the time, he expressed doubt that the protracted feud between the two political figures would truly end.

However, over the weekend, Fubara and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, were seen in Rumuepirikom, Wike’s hometown, attending the burial of Wike’s uncle, Elder Temple Omezurike Onuoha.

Reacting to a video of the gathering, Adeyanju, in a post on his official Facebook page, admitted he might have misjudged the situation.

“I might be wrong this time around about Wike. I hope the peace lasts,” he wrote, adding, “There’s nothing personal about anyone, just expressing my views on topical issues in the country. I wish them well in their new godfather-godson relationship.”
