Corruption Rocks Ebonyi State 1-Million Naria Empowerment Programme

Scandal has erupted in Ebonyi State, as allegations of corruption and favoritism mar the Ebonyi State 1-Million Naria Empowerment Programme initiated by the state government led by Gov. Francis Nwifuru.

According to Nwoba Chika Nwoba, a social media influencer and member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ebonyi State, the program, funded by the Federal Government to the tune of N6.5 billion, has been hijacked by APC stakeholders and cronies of the state administration.

“The money, N6.5 billion, is coming from the Federal Government of Nigeria. It’s not from the Government of Ebonyi,” Nwoba revealed.

Only 35 names were published by the committee set up by the Ebonyi Government, out of the expected 1500 individuals to be empowered, sparking questions about transparency.

“Of the expected 1500 individuals to be empowered, the committee set up by the Ebonyi Government published names of 35 persons to portray transparency. The rest, 1,465 are coming from crooked means,” Nwoba alleged.

Furthermore, 39 slots were given to one individual, Humphrey Nwuruku, and his associates, to use at their discretion.

“39 slots were given to one Humphrey Nwuruku and acolytes to do whatever they please,” Nwoba claimed.

In a twisted social media post, DSP Nkeiruka Nwode questioned if the Ebonyi State 1-Million Naria Empowerment Programme is actually for 171 youth leaders and 171 women leaders of the APC party, with generated names and assigned account numbers yet to be verified.

“So the empowerment is for 171 youth leaders of YA party, 171 women leaders of YA party, una generate names, assign account numbers yet to be verified, yet to pay the acclaimed unknown beneficiaries, una run kata kata enter social media….. HE …be warned!!!!!! We need transparency Eze Monday are you among the beneficiaries? Kwuo ihe Doro gi anya,” Nwode wrote.

Nwode added: “HE Francis Nwifuru….if what I read on media concerning the 1m empowerment is true, my voice will be heard very loud. When your foot slips, you can recall your step…the concerned should recall their steps Asap.”

“Whenever Ebonyi State Government announces empowerment programme, don’t take it to heart. Don’t even apply. You’ll end up spending your money. The current administration is stakeholders administration. People who should be in Abuja observing federal polity are now in Abakaliki perching around government house like tsetse flies,” warned Nwoba.
