CAF to Unveil New WAFCON Trophy in Morocco

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will unveil a brand-new trophy for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Wednesday in Morocco, the host nation for this year’s tournament.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe has repeatedly emphasized his commitment to transforming women’s football across Africa, with the trophy launch seen as a key milestone in his broader vision to elevate the women’s game on the continent.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have dominated the competition historically, lifting the previous trophy nine times. Equatorial Guinea have been crowned champions twice, while reigning holders Banyana Banyana of South Africa won their first title in 2022.
The 2024 WAFCON finals will kick off in Morocco on Saturday, July 5, and run through Saturday, July 26. The opening match will see the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco face the Copper Queens of Zambia.
