CAC Unveils AI-Driven Portal to Register Businesses in 30 Minutes

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has launched the pilot phase of its new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered registration portal.

In a statement, the Commission disclosed that the Registrar-General, Malam Hussaini Magaji, unveiled the development during the 2025 Stakeholders Forum held in Port Harcourt.

Describing the platform as “a major milestone in Nigeria’s business facilitation drive,” Magaji said the upgraded system represents a complete overhaul of the existing Company Registration Portal (CRP).

According to him, the AI-powered portal is equipped with advanced features to simplify and accelerate the registration process. Among its innovations is the ability to instantly approve name reservations—comparable in ease to opening an email account. The platform can also suggest and approve alternative business names automatically.

Magaji further noted that the system enables entrepreneurs to register a business using only the National Identification Number (NIN) of a director or proprietor. He added that the Commission is targeting a 30-minute turnaround time for business registration and certificate issuance, pending real-time NIN validation.
