Basketmouth Throws Shade At Wizkid And Burna Boy, Applauds Davido’s Consistency
Popular comedian Basketmouth has stirred reactions after throwing jabs at Wizkid and Burna Boy while praising Davido during his performance at the 2025 AY Live show.
The veteran stand-up comedian commended Davido for his consistency over the years and for sticking with his real name, unlike his counterparts.
He took a swipe at Wizkid, saying the singer made a mistake by including “kid” in his name, forgetting he would eventually grow old. Basketmouth joked that despite several attempts to rebrand, Wizkid’s original name still sticks.
“Wizkid gave himself Wizkid, him forget say him go grow old. Now he is struggling to change the name, nobody gree — Machala, na lie, you are a Wizkid. Big Bird — na lie, you’re a kid,” he said.
He also took aim at Burna Boy, mocking the use of “Boy” in his stage name.
Meanwhile, he hailed Davido for remaining consistent and performing with the same team throughout his career. “David has been consist. He even used his real name, Davido. Consistent for years. David has been going on stage with 100 people. Till today, him still maintain that number,” he added.
