Ayra Starr Becomes First African Female Artist To Hit 5 Million Spotify Followers

Ayra Starr has made history as the first female artist from Africa to reach 5 million followers on Spotify, marking a major milestone in her career and the continent’s music industry.
Although she still trails fellow Nigerian singer Tems in total streams—boasting 2.7 billion compared to Tems’ 3.8 billion—Ayra’s achievement cements her rising dominance on the global music scene.
Among her most streamed tracks on Spotify are: – “Santa” – over 707 million streams
– “Rush” – over 474 million streams
Her growing numbers reflect not only her immense talent but also the increasing global appeal of her sound. Ayra Starr’s Spotify success stands as further proof of her expanding influence and her role as a trailblazer for African female artists.
Earlier, she also spoke out about gender inequality in the industry, saying, “Female artistes are not treated equally with men.”
