A team of four law students from Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi, Nigeria, has made their mark on the global stage, representing Nigeria at the prestigious Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition.

The students – Okechukwu Sharon Amarachi, Okeosisi Amarachi Miracle, Chukwuzihem Faith Morka, and their staff advisor, Mr. Oguguo Paschal – were welcomed to Geneva by the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, a renowned Nigerian economist and international development expert, congratulated the students on their achievement, saying, “A visit from four Nigerian students who made it to the Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition in Geneva.

Congratulations to Oguguo Paschal, Okechukwu Sharon Amarachi, Okeosisi Amarachi Miracle, and Chukwuzihem Faith Morka! Well done. AE-FUNAI to the world!”

The students had qualified for the competition after a virtual contest held in June 2024. Their participation in the competition is a testament to the growing reputation of AE-FUNAI as a center of academic excellence.

The Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition is an annual event that brings together law students from around the world to argue hypothetical human rights cases in a simulated courtroom setting.
