2 remanded for killing friend over ‘rice’

Two friends, Noah Tovohome and Rajay Zannu, have been remanded to a correctional center by a magistrate court sitting in Lagos for allegedly killing their friend, Segun Zusu.
The two friends were said to have plotted Segun’s death over 36 bags of rice.
Tovohome and Zannu were said to have allegedly plotted with a boat driver who was conveying Zusu’s goods from Seme to kill him and steal the bags of rice.
They allegedly intercepted the boat on November 12, 2023, at the Novo River in Seme and then used a plank to beat Zusu up and throw him inside the river.
The two friends then sold the bags of rice for about N1.4m to a businesswoman and shared the money.
The police prosecutor, Chekwube Okeh, told the court that the offense contravenes Section 222 and is punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
Tovohome and Zannu pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
