NUJ Warri Urges Governor Oborevwori on Urgent Road Rehabilitation

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Warri chapter in Delta State has passionately appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to prioritize Warri journalists road rehabilitation, highlighting the urgent need to repair the only access road to the Press Centre at Eburu Street off Okumagba Avenue.

This appeal was detailed in a communique signed by Ebenezer Adurokiya, Matthew Omonigho, and Okpare Theophilus Onojeghen, who serve as Chairman, Secretary, and member of the union, respectively.

During its recent congress, the union also resolved to call on the Warri Uvwie Environs Development Agency, WUEDA, to expedite the ongoing road and drainage reconstruction projects at Eboh and other adjoining streets along Okumagba Avenue. The journalists emphasized that Warri journalists road rehabilitation is essential not only for media workers but for the broader community that depends on these critical roads.

Additionally, the union expressed deep concern over the persistent flooding affecting Warri, Udu, Uvwie, and Okuokoko in Okpe Local Government Area. It called on Governor Oborevwori to urgently tackle the menace to alleviate the suffering of residents in the affected communities.

Furthermore, the NUJ appealed to the governor to direct contractors to carry out immediate remedial work on the Effurun Roundabout to DSC Roundabout stretch, which has deteriorated into dangerous gullies. This section requires Warri journalists road rehabilitation efforts to reduce traffic congestion and prevent the continuous loss of man-hours for commuters and residents alike.
