Stay Alert, Stay Safe, Expert Tells Lagos Corps Members
Security expert, Mr. Fidel Andepu, have Called on Prospective Corps Members at the ongoing 2024 Batch “A” Stream II Orientation exercise in Lagos to be security conscious at all times.
In Mr. Andepu’s address at NYSC Lagos Permanent Orientation Camp, he spoke extensively on Self-confidence and imbibing a positive image as this greatly reflects in the relationship with people.
Andepu noted that the uprightness and attraction of like minds enjoined Prospective Corps Members to open up their self-consciousness and shun obliviousness to their environment, strange things, and suspicious persons.
Prospective Corps members were also advised to refuse to be used by Power-Drunk political aspirants while working with the INEC during the elections and employ tactics to remain calm and unperturbed in the face of provocation.
He discussed the varying degrees of terrorism, banditry, criminal activities, insecurities, and abduction in certain parts of the North by Boko Haram. He divulged how these violent people visit rural areas in the North unsuspectingly, causing mayhem and perpetrating all sorts of abominable crimes.
Mr. Andepu also addressed the predominant security challenges in the country which can be curbed one at a time if all practice personal security. He outlined some preventive measures that PCMs are to abide by to ensure their safety.
He also advised that Prospective Corps members follow NCDC guidelines to avoid the spread pandemic and endemics to be safe. He added that, to be safe from assailants, corps members should avoid shortcuts, and employ proactive security measures while traveling.
In cases of abduction, Prospective Corps members were enjoined to trust their instincts, avoid altercations, and practice calm conversations that wouldn’t ensure arguments or provocation.
In cases of Improvised Explosive Devices(IED) also known as Bombs, Prospective Corps members were advised to remain calm, lay flat on their backs while plotting an escape route, and adhere strictly to instructions given for their utmost safety.
