SAED Programme Aims to Reduce Poverty and Hunger – Baderinwa

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme has been tasked with contributing to the reduction of poverty and hunger in the country.
Speaking at the official opening of the SAED programme for the 2024 Batch “B” Stream I Orientation Course at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, State Coordinator Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa said the programme is aimed at building the capacity of corps members to gain entrepreneurship and hands-on training.
The programme is designed to help the government eradicate poverty and unemployment by encouraging corps members to start small and medium businesses. Over 7,000 business owners and entrepreneurs have been created by the programme since 2012.
Corps members were also motivated by Life Coach Mr Tunde Oladipupo to pursue their passion and make money from it. He urged them to be determined in pursuing salable skills and to allow criticism, ask questions, and have a positive mindset.
The programme also included a session on the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) where corps members were taken through the step-by-step process of writing a bankable business plan and running a small business.
The NYSC SAED programme is in partnership with the Enterprise Development Center to provide free online training for corps members in entrepreneurship. Grants are also available from NYSC partners to support corps members in starting their businesses.
