Governor Nwifuru Vows to Recall Ebonyi Indigenes, Sack Non-Performing Aides

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has announced a new initiative aimed at bringing home indigenes of the state who are engaged in menial jobs in other parts of the country, with the goal of empowering them and making them self-reliant.
Speaking during a church service at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki on Sunday, July 20, the governor said his administration was building warehouses and skills acquisition centres within the state’s industrial city to meaningfully engage returnees and local youths.
“We will bring back our people who are doing menial jobs in other cities and empower them since they are not even being appreciated by the people they are working for. After all, they are being exploited without commensurate remuneration,” Nwifuru stated.
The governor also expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of some members of his administration, noting that a recent minor cabinet reshuffle was necessitated by failure to meet the expectations outlined in the “People’s Charter of Needs.”
“We are worried that the vision statement has not been satisfactorily realized. We are still assessing them, and we shall do the needful if the need arises,” he said, warning that appointees who fail to deliver within the grace period will be removed.
Addressing recent allegations of fund diversion involving the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Governor Nwifuru urged patience, stressing that no action would be taken until investigations are complete.
“I received the news of a publication already before the Federal High Court in Uyo about our Secretary to the State Government. She is presumed innocent until investigation reveals otherwise. I’m a lawyer, and I know it is imperative to establish the facts before judgment,” he said.
Governor Nwifuru also appealed to leaders and stakeholders from Ebonyi to ignore social media critics and return home to invest, assuring that his administration has created a safe and enabling environment for business and development.
The press release was signed by Dr. Monday Uzor, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
