Michelle Obama has revealed she’s thankful she didn’t have a son, joking that any boy she raised would’ve just been a “mini Barack.”

The former First Lady made the light-hearted remark during a conversation on her “IMO” podcast with her brother, Craig Robinson, and radio host Angie Martinez. The trio was discussing masculinity and the challenges of raising boys and young men when Martinez teased, “You should’ve thrown a boy in the mix.”

“I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy,” Michelle responded with a laugh.

“Why not a third?” Martinez asked, prompting Obama to reply, “Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama.”

The response sparked laughter among the group. “Baby Barack — it would’ve been amazing!” Martinez said.

Michelle quickly added, “Ooh, no, I would’ve felt for him,” hinting that the pressure of being a younger version of the former president would have been tough.

Her brother chimed in, saying, “She just borrowed our boys,” referring to his own children.

“I got plenty,” Michelle agreed.

Married since 1992, Michelle and Barack Obama are parents to two daughters — Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24. Reflecting on motherhood, the 61-year-old author of Becoming said she has enjoyed every stage of parenting.

“I loved them as babies, I loved when they started talking and walking, the teenage years in the White House were… interesting,” she said. “But I’ve loved every phase — watching them become their own people, make their own decisions, and call me after they’ve figured things out. It’s been beautiful.”
