Nigerian Army Launches Successful Operation in Sambisa Forest, Recovers Weapons

On Thursday, May 15, Nigerian Army troops carried out a major offensive in Sambisa Forest, a notorious stronghold for terrorists in Borno State.
In an official statement, the Army announced that troops under Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), launched a coordinated clearance operation between 6 a.m. and 12 noon, targeting key terrorist enclaves.
The operation focused on areas including Garin Malam Ali, Garin Glucose, and Ukuba within the forest. According to the Army, the offensive forced insurgents to abandon their positions and flee, leaving behind a cache of weapons and equipment.
Among the items recovered were various firearms and machines used in the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
“The troops successfully stormed the terrorists’ hideouts, prompting the insurgents to escape and abandon their weapons. The operation led to the recovery of multiple arms and IED-making equipment. Further exploitation of the Sambisa Forest is currently underway,” the Army confirmed.
