JAMB to release results of 380,000 candidates Wednesday

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the results of the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 379,000 affected candidates will be released on Wednesday, May 21.
The resit, conducted between Friday and Monday, followed public outcry over mass failure in the original UTME, with JAMB confirming that technical and human errors – especially in Lagos and South-East states – contributed to the widespread poor performance.
Out of 1.9 million candidates who sat for the 2025 UTME, over 1.5 million scored below 200 marks out of 400.
Only 12,414 candidates (0.63%) scored 300 and above, while 50% fell between 160 and 199 marks.
Speaking with The PUNCH, JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that results for the rescheduled exams will be available from Wednesday.
“The results of the candidates who took the rescheduled exam will be released on Wednesday,” he said.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, had earlier taken responsibility for the failure, describing it as “sabotage” and announcing that affected students would be notified via text message.
He revealed that 206,610 candidates in Lagos and 173,387 in the South-East were directly impacted by the glitches.
