Emulate Good Conduct in Teaching, Ministry of Education Urges Corps Members

Lagos State Ministry of Education in its Orientation on professional teaching has told corps members at NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja that teachers must be emulators of good conduct.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji stated this in a comprehensive address to Corps members on the importance of self-respect at the ongoing 2024 Batch A Stream 2 Orientation exercise in Lagos.
He stressed the importance of fairness in interactions with students, parents, and the wider community.

Mr. Abolaji advised Corps members to refer pupils with psychological issues to appropriate professional bodies, cautioning them against providing home-cooked meals to students.
He elaborated on the necessity of maintaining professional boundaries between teachers and students of the opposite sex, advocating against engaging in unnecessary social activities.

The Permanent Secretary recommended seeking support from the Child Guidance and Special Education Department for pupils with dyslexia, emphasizing the importance of professional conduct marked by ethical integrity in the teaching profession.
