Charly Boy Says Dino Melaye's Luxury Lifestyle Hides Depression — Dino Claps Back

Prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) figure, Charly Boy, has sparked controversy after calling out former senator Dino Melaye for flaunting his wealth on social media.

Charly Boy took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, May 12, to criticize Melaye after he posted a video of himself pulling a designer suitcase while dressed in high-end fashion.

Reacting to the display, Charly Boy expressed concern, implying that such ostentatious behavior might be a sign of underlying emotional struggles.

He wrote:
“This shows that even in the midst of luxury or obscene affluence, it is possible to be clinically depressed. Not all forms of mental illness are discernible.”

Melaye responded on Thursday, May 15, through his X handle, slamming Charly Boy for what he described as hypocrisy and envy. In a strongly worded rebuttal, Melaye questioned Charly Boy’s moral authority to comment on others’ lifestyles.

He wrote:
“It’s fascinating how someone whose entire persona is built on defying moral norms suddenly feels qualified to offer psychological diagnoses. The irony is poetic. Coming from a man who has turned his body into a chaotic canvas and embraces a lifestyle teetering on moral anarchy, this unsolicited critique reeks of envy rather than concern.”

Melaye further mocked Charly Boy’s interpretation of fashion as a sign of mental instability, adding:
“Since when did Charly Boy become the dean of moral instruction? Yellow, in many cultures, symbolizes vibrancy and royalty—not a symptom. Let’s not pretend to be intellectuals while hiding behind hypocrisy. Before using flamboyance as a weapon to mock others, maybe revisit your own past.”
