“We Shall Resume in the Senate on Tuesday” – Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Declares After Court Lifts Suspension

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Chair of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, has announced her return to legislative duties on Tuesday, following a court ruling that nullified her suspension from the Senate.
In a video shared on social media, the Kogi Central senator addressed her cheering supporters, saying:
“I thank you for your support. I am glad we are victorious today. We shall resume in the Senate on Tuesday by the grace of God.”
Last Friday, the Federal High Court in Abuja declared her six-month suspension unconstitutional, excessive, and a violation of the rights of her constituents. The court ordered her immediate reinstatement.
However, Justice Binta Nyako also imposed a ₦5 million fine on Akpoti-Uduaghan for contempt of court, citing a satirical Facebook post in which she mocked Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The post was deemed to have violated an interim injunction issued on March 4, 2025, which barred all parties from making public or social media statements about the case.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March after a heated confrontation during a Senate session.
