Following a resit of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that at least 200,000 more candidates scored above the 200 mark.

The improvement comes after JAMB organized a resit exam for 379,000 candidates in Lagos and several South-East states due to technical and human errors that affected the original UTME. The initial results, released on May 9, showed that over 1.5 million out of 1.9 million candidates scored below 200 out of 400 — sparking nationwide concern.

However, in the resit results released on Sunday, JAMB revealed that the number of candidates who scored below 200 has dropped to 1,365,479. This indicates that roughly 200,000 more candidates crossed the 200 average mark after the resit.

JAMB also noted that the updated results show an overall improvement in performance, marking one of the best outcomes since the introduction of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format in 2013.
