Transport Hitch Stalls Movement of Election Officials in Lagos

A mild drama played out on Saturday morning at the Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, as several election officials were left stranded due to a lack of adequate transportation to their polling units.

As of 9:30 AM, presiding officers and support staff were still stranded at the council office, unable to proceed to their assigned polling stations due to transportation delays.

According to one of the stranded officials, the transport provider was instructed to supply a specific number of buses and claimed to have done so. However, the available vehicles were insufficient for the number of personnel present.

The shortage forced a chaotic scene, as some officers scrambled to board the few buses available—clinging to doors and windows—while others began trekking to their polling stations.

“They told us it’s not far from here, so we can trek there,” one election official remarked.
