South-South APC Adopts Tinubu as Sole Candidate for 2027 Election

The South-South APC adopts Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election, marking a major declaration of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The endorsement came during a high-profile stakeholders meeting in Benin City themed “Renewed Hope in Action: Strengthening APC Mobilization and Governance in the South-South.”

The meeting, where the South-South APC adopts Tinubu, was attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, National Assembly members, governors, ministers, and other top party stakeholders. In a communiqué read by Victor Giadom, the APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), the party praised Tinubu’s infrastructural development and his renewed hope agenda, describing it as transformative for the region.

Leaders emphasized that the South-South adopts Tinubu because of tangible achievements in infrastructure and governance that have directly benefited communities. They also unanimously adopted all four APC governors in the region as sole candidates for second terms. Senate Leader Julius Ihonvbere moved the motion, which was seconded by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, reinforcing party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

In his remarks, Senate President Akpabio stated that the South-South adopts Tinubu to ensure the continuity of progress and stability. He declared there is “no vacancy in Aso Rock come 2027,” calling on the people of the region to remain united behind the president’s policies. Akpabio also hinted that Bayelsa and Rivers State governors might soon join the APC fold, further consolidating party influence.

During the meeting, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo urged other regional governors to embrace the APC, stressing that the South-South adopts Tinubu not just for political reasons but to sustain development gains. Acting National Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that Tinubu’s government does not seek to create a one-party state but rather aims for inclusive governance and prosperity.

Civil society groups and political observers have noted that the declaration that the South-South APC adopts Tinubu is likely to reshape political dynamics in the region. With support from key stakeholders and community leaders, the APC hopes to consolidate control and expand its base before the next election cycle.

The South-South adopts Tinubu movement underscores the party’s strategic efforts to maintain unity and build momentum, positioning itself as the dominant political force in Nigeria’s oil-rich geopolitical zone.
