Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly, has officially left the Labour Party (LP) and aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a rising coalition of opposition leaders positioning for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja after a strategic meeting, Senator Kingibe pledged her commitment to the ADC, describing it as a united platform capable of delivering credible leadership.

“As a senator, I am fully committed to ADC. However, as the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, I don’t expect you to just hand me a card,” she said, acknowledging that while she is yet to collect her official party card, her loyalty to the coalition is unwavering.

The ADC, now operating under an interim leadership headed by former Senate President David Mark, is rapidly gaining momentum as it absorbs key political figures dissatisfied with the current state of affairs in their former parties.

In a show of support, 37 state and FCT ADC chairmen reaffirmed their loyalty to the David Mark-led leadership and expressed readiness to intensify grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 polls.

The ADC coalition was recently launched as a strategic alliance of opposition parties and stakeholders aiming to present a formidable alternative in the next general elections. The interim team has been tasked with unifying members, strengthening the party’s structure nationwide, and steering the coalition until a permanent leadership is elected.
