Rivers Assembly begins impeachment moves against Fubara, deputy
The Rivers State House of Assembly has served a notice of alleged gross misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Dr. Ngozi Odu.
The lawmakers claim their action aligns with constitutional provisions, citing Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
According to the notice, the Assembly members accuse the deputy governor of misconduct in the performance of her official duties. While specific allegations remain undisclosed, the move signals escalating political tension in the oil-rich state.
This development comes amid ongoing power struggles within the state’s political landscape, raising concerns about governance stability.
