House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to review the 2024 Hajj fare for intending pilgrims to allow them to perform the religious obligation.
A lawmaker from Kaduna State, Umar Shehu Ajilo moved the motion for the review the 2024 Hajj fare as the House mandated Committee on Muslim Pilgrimage to engage the National Hajj Commission to make the fare affordable.
Umar Buba Jajiri, lawmaker from Yobe State, was concerned over the upsurge in security threats in Fika Local Government Area of the state which has led to people being displaced.
The motion to Rescue the Nigerian Economy from Collapse and Restore Investors’ Confidence, was moved by a lawmaker from Kogi State, Mr Leke Abejide.
The House urged the Federal Government to ensure adherence to international best practice of allowing a 90-day grace period for fiscal policy changes.
The House after taking motions on the need to curtail the dangerous effects of Sport Betting and another motion on the need to Fund Mangu Dam Project in Plateau State, referred the matters to the appropriate committees for further legislative inputs.
