Nigerian singer and rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has spoken out about the stage collapse during his performance at the Nativeland Festival on December 21, 2024.

The event, which featured top acts like Central Cee, Bloody Civilian, and DJ Tunez, took an unexpected turn when the stage gave way mid-performance, creating panic among fans.

In a recent interview with HIPTV, Odumodublvck assured fans that no lives were lost during the incident and revealed how he stayed calm despite the chaos. “I wasn’t scared or panicked because God is always with me,” he said, reflecting on the event.

The 31-year-old artist shed light on the complexities of organising large-scale events, emphasizing that such mishaps shouldn’t be blamed on one individual or group.

“People don’t know there are multiple teams involved in events, production companies, lighting crews, sound engineers, and security. It’s not just one person handling everything,” he explained.

Odumodublvck also noted that Native, the event organizers, have begun investigations with the stage and production company to determine what went wrong and prevent similar accidents in the future.

“All in all, we thank God nobody died, and those injured are being taken care of,” he added.

The Nativeland Festival, known for its vibrant lineup and enthusiastic crowd, faced widespread reactions online following the incident.
