The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Community Development Service (CDS) of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC LAGOS, has called on secondary school students to consistently seek accurate information during a one-day sensitization program.
The Sensitization themed “INFORMATION: A POWERFUL TOOL FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATION,” at IPONRI ESTATE SECONDARY SCHOOL in Surulere took place on Thursday as part of the group’s monthly development project.
Alefia Friday James, the group’s president, emphasized that the sensitization aimed to teach students about their access to public information. He highlighted the timeliness and importance of the chosen topics in today’s fast-paced information world.
Vice President Odunwa Ifeanyi underscored the role of information in making career decisions, urging students to seek accurate information about their proposed career paths. Oladapo Michael highlighted how accurate information is crucial for academic pursuits and personal development, encouraging students to be critical and objective consumers of information.
Corps members Ifelade Ifedamola and Odia Franca advised students to exercise caution regarding information sources, emphasizing the importance of seeking the right information at the right time.
Other corps members, including Akaange Emmanuel, Olabode Tosin, and Sulaimon Barakat Aishat, stressed the importance of students being mindful of the information they consume in school, within peer groups, and on the cyberspace.
